In November 1988, after nine years, he left Fiat Auto and from that moment the Company returned to its former condition of crisis. Then he moved to Lugano Switzerland, where he developed brilliant businesses and financial activities. In partnership with Tito Tettamanti he managed Saurer, becoming president and managing director. In 1993, following the loss of his twenty year old daughter Amalia in a car accident, he withdrew himself from every activity. When he recovered from the terrible tragedy he founded and managed the financial holding company VG AM. VG AM was later converted into the asset management company VG Asset Management.
